I don’t care for labels, and I enjoy creating in all kinds of media, but papercutting is my thing. I respect the craft as a “folk art” that has a rich history in a variety of cultures the world over—in particular, I draw inspiration from the Polish tradition of Wycinanki, and the German craft of Scherenshnitte. I embrace the materials and everything about the process, from idea to design to completion (even what my students call “the mess-ups!”) And thanks to my family for putting up with the little bits of colored paper all over the house. Most of the pieces you see below I cut for myself, or as gifts for family and friends, but a few were commissions. If you have an idea for a piece you’d like me to cut for you, just contact me and we’ll work something out! Click here for more of my papercut art. Click here to see some of my Art Adventures.
