My wife Jen is “my rock” and my best friend. She encouraged me to follow the path I now walk, supported me through graduate school and job searches, and managed to raise our two exceptional children at the same time. Everything I’ve been able to accomplish in my teaching career comes back to her steadfast belief in me. Without schmaltz, this website is dedicated to you Baby.

 

My son James and my daughter Callie amaze me every single day. There are times when I shake my head and still can’t believe I’m a Dad. These two beautiful young people make that appellation a badge I wear proudly. Thanks kids.

My name is Dan Deslaurier, and professionally, I work as an elementary school art teacher and as an artist. I have worked as the Lower School Art Teacher (Pre-Kindergarten-Fifth grade) at Friends Select School in Philadelphia since September 2001. In this capacity,  I also enjoy the opportunity to serve as a cooperating mentor for student teachers from the University of the Arts Art Education Program. During the summertime, I teach Comic Strip and Animation Workshops at the Agnes Irwin Summer Session in Rosemont Pennsylvania. As an artist, I enjoy working in most all media, but my focus of late has been the craft of papercutting. You can enjoy samples of my art with a visit to the Gallery.
